Women had their folic acid levels tested in pregnancy and the study showed a correlation between women with appropriate folic levels and lower rates of childhood obesity in their children. It's hard to know if this is a sign that healthier moms were eating balanced diets and taking their prenatal vitamins. This positive health behavior may affect how they raise/feed their children leading to healthier kids. It will be interesting to see if folic acid testing in pregnancy becomes routine to help improve health outcomes for children.
